Pain In My Head – Relief for Headaches

How Can I Cure My Head Pain?

Pain Management – Supports to Reduce Pain and Heal

For many injuries, after surgery or even in lieu of surgery itself, medical supports to reduce pain and heal are a necessary part of the recovery process. These come in a wide variety of forms and usually work to support joints to allow the successful healing of bones, ligaments, and tendons. These products keep injuries from worsening by limiting movement and reducing the amount of weight that lies on these areas of the body. This can be very difficult as many of the areas of the body needing these supports are joints, which are in constant use, move in many directions, and are sized differently from person to person.

First in this series about dealing with physical pain we will discuss one form of therapy that is often practiced under a state massage license. A massage license encompasses a large scope of manual medicine practices. Because the majority of these therapies are not covered under third party insurance most of the "massage therapy practitioners" survive outside of our insurance industry. This is an unfortunate situation because there are many instances where chronic pain responds better to massage therapy/ manual medicine then any other discipline.

These products are often combined with some form of brace. This is usually a firm metal or plastic insert that helps to limit the range of a joint. This is most commonly seen for the wrists. The firm grip of the neoprene will also help to keep this brace in place and let it move slightly with the motion of the body. This improves the overall effectiveness of the brace and lessens the time needed to heal.

If you are still suffering from chronic pain issues it would serve you well to research some of the disciplines that I will share with you including herbal approaches that work symbiotically with physical manipulation. Don't wait for "scientific proof" that some of these massage therapies are effective. Efficacy is easily proven by the huge amount of people who are using alternative therapies for their well being.

More complicated injuries like neck and back injuries require more intensive supports and braces, but they often need to be specialized to the patient. However, they have many of the same features of the simpler ones listed above, just targeting larger and heavier areas of the body
