Pain and the Inflammatory Cascade
MOXXOR is quite a newcomer to the marketplace and claims to be the World's most Powerful Omega3 and Antioxidant on the planet. MOXXOR is made from New Zealand Greenlip Mussels, which are shown to have the highest concentration of Omega3 essential oils on the planet. According to the company's research it is so powerful that one tiny capsule of MOXXOR has the equivalent anti-inflammatory benefits of just over 60 large, generic, fish oil capsules. It is 247 times more powerful than salmon oil!
The greenlip mussels in this product come from New Zealand and from the positive stories that are being shared, it appears that MOXXORs claims are very accurate. This product also has the addition of one of the worlds most powerful Antioxidants, derived only from the grape seed husk of the sauvignon grapes grown in the Marlborough region of New Zealand.
"Moxxor is like nothing else out there" states Dr Graham, which is why he decided to become actively involved with the company. Dr Graham is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the Department Head of Orthopedic Surgery at Saddleback Hospital in Southern California. In addition to his role at Saddleback, Dr Graham practices Orthopedic Surgery at seven medical facilities throughout Southern California. One of Dr Graham’s specializations and passions is in sports medicine. He is now on the MOXXOR Medical Advisory Board as he has a strong belief in this product.
Dr Graham knows that Omega3s and Antioxidants are significant for everyone to be using, not only those with an immediate medical condition, and he spends a great deal of his time educating people about why this is so. This article will take a look at some reasons why Dr Graham believes that this product is such valuable product.
A Brief Look At Omega3s
Essentially, Omega3s are really the foundation of every cell in the body and when you look at every cell membrane of every cell in the body, it is supported by phospho-lipids. These are basically what Omega3s are. So they are like the framework of the cell.
When a cell is weakened either from free radicals, oxidative stress, an injury from working out, from tissue damage, from auto immune problems like Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chron’s disease or Psoriasis, they basically release enzymes which start an inflammatory cascade. This cascade is a series of events within the body, whereby at the end , what you will feel is pain.
So, what Omega3s do is basically go to the cell membrane and stabilize the cell to help prevent the inflammatory cascade from happening. Omega3s are great in preventative medicine because they assist in the prevention of inflammation.
A Brief Look At Anti-Oxidants
What Antioxidants do is help the cell from being damaged by free radicals. Free radicals are basically electrons that don’t have a partner, and they are looking to connect with another cell in order to steal one of its electrons. What they do is attach to cells and then damage them. So, a free radical will come in, having an affinity for cells, damage that cell and then cause the inflammatory cascade.
What Antioxidants do is grab that free radical and connect to it before it can cause any cellular damage. This is a very basic explanation of why Antioxidants are preventative and also why they are very important in anti-aging medicine; because they help to defend each cell.
Inflammation
Inflammation really is the cause of almost every disease process out there; whether it’s Coronary Artery Disease, Alzheimer’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis or skin disorders… all these things are essentially based with inflammation.
What medical doctors will typically do is focus on the end of the inflammatory cascade, because this is what the patient is presenting with… ‘my knee hurts, my back hurts, my head hurts’. So, they give medications that come in and stop that from happening, and when the inflammatory cascade is stopped, patients no longer feel the pain.
It’s very normal, in medicine, to write prescriptions for people who come in with pain, but it is important that we see a shift in this type of treatment, towards a more natural approach. People are increasingly becoming educated about the negative side effects of such drugs and also of the positive health benefits that quality Omega3s and Anti-Oxidants provide.
The thing about prescription medication, or that which is available over the counter at the pharmacy, is that although they are really good at blocking the inflammatory cascade, a side effect is that they will block other cascades also. A common side-effect, especially for people who use a prescription anti-inflammatory over a period of time, is the blocking of the protective mucosa of the GI system, which is basically the stomach. If this happens, patients can present with dyspepsia or reflux, or they may even get ulcers. Between over-the-counter anti-inflammatories and prescription anti-inflammatories, about 30,000 - 34,000 people die a year from bleeding ulcers or kidney disease in the USA. This is really a big issue and it’s not as well known as it really should be.
Another process that can be negatively impacted from taking anti-inflammatories is the Renal system, which is basically your kidneys. When someone is on an anti-inflammatory for about 3 months, they should have their blood checked to make sure that they don’t have a decrease in their renal function. This is essential!
COX-2 Inhibitors
What some pharmaceutical companies did, is they said ‘we understand the side-effects and the biggest problem is that people complain about the number of deaths attributed to these medications and a lot of medical expenses, so lets try to create an anti-inflammatory that doesn’t have that’. This is where COX-2 inhibitors came from.
COX-2 inhibitors were hailed as a breakthrough when they first came out, because they were great as an anti-inflammatory and they had fewer incidences of GI problems. BUT, what started happening is that an increasing number of people started having cardiac events. And so there was a higher incidence of heart attacks because it was inhibiting some normal function of the cardiovascular system.
So, when you look at medicine, allopathic or general medicine really forms only one side of the equation, while preventative or holistic medicine is on the opposite side of the equation. Preventative or holistic medicine is really preventing the cell from being damaged in the first place, or stabilizing the cell so there’s a reduced risk of the cascade occurring. No inflammatory cascade equals no pain.

Biologics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Paperback) $28.37 SERIES OVERVIEW: The Oxford American Pocket Notes are a series of ultra-concise, small-format books for healthcare professionals on topics related to the diagnosis, treatment and management of various medical conditions. Each title typically features an outline of key points, guidelines and tools such as patient assessments and treatment algorithms, for a specific area of medical diagnosis and/or management. Highly practical in format, content and style, the Pocket Notes serve as a quick, easily accessible point-of-care reference for busy practitioners. In effect, they are miniature versions of the Oxford American Medical Library and Oxford American Handbooks in Medicine, capturing the key essentials needed for appropriate assessment and treatment. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a gastrointestinal condition which causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive tract. This disease affects an estimated one million Americans, usually in the forms of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn`s disease (CD). These two diseases have similar symptoms and are often confused for one another. Crohn`s disease can occur anywhere in the digestive tract, often spreading deep into the layers of affected tissues, but ulcerative colitis usually affects only the innermost lining (mucosa) of the large intestine and rectum. IBD patients suffer from severe diarrhea and abdominal pain, and may experience other complications, such as arthritis and kidney stones, that affect the body beyond the intestinal tract. The Oxford American Pocket Notes: Biologics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a practical guide to the safe administration of biological agents to treat inflammatory gastrointestinal illnesses. This ultra-concise and practical volume focuses on tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocking therapy (TNF blocker), an important new class of biologic therapy indicated for the treatment of several rheumatic and other auto-immune disorders, including Crohn`s disease and ulcerativ |
